![]() The coralline particles were removed from the dolphin’s body, and white ones were left only. The orange hue also was changed and became more powdery. The logo was capped with a large football helmet painted in white and blue with a letter “M” in the middle. It overlapped the sun contour, and its head was behind the circle. In 1974 the dolphin silhouette on the Miami Dolphins logo was moved upwards and right. ![]() The sun was painted in interleaving thin and wide tapered rays. The dolphin’s body was painted in white orange particles as if it has jumped out of the water and gleams with its wet sides. The latter wore a sports helmet with the letter “M,” which symbolized the team’s short name. The initial Miami Dolphins logo consisted of a muted orange circle and a dolphin that stands on its tail. He also explained that the dolphins were very courageous and could even force a deadly attack on a shark. Joseph Robbie approved it because the dolphin symbolizes the club location and the smartest and swiftest sea creature. Six hundred sixty-two people sent the winning name. Nineteen thousand eight hundred forty-three participants have proposed more than 1000 names. In the year of founding upon the contest results, the team got its name at once. Since that time, Ross has owned 95% and is the full manager of Miami Dolphins. On January 20, 2009, he purchased 45% shares more. The deal cost him 550 mln USD and allowed him to become a general partner. Ross has purchased 50% of the franchise and adjacent areas. The latter was managing the team from 1993 till 2008. The situation had changed in the 90s when Wayne Huizenga purchased part of the shares. Thus, from 1966 till 1990, Robbie was the sole club manager. However, Thomas did not agree and sold the share to his partner. It had a larger population but had no team. Firstly, they planned to leave it in Philadelphia, but Joe Floss, the league manager, recommended to move to Miami. Actor Danny Thomas and lawyer Joseph Robbie received it. The official history of Miami Dolphins had begun when it received an AFL franchise for an extension at the cost of approx. Miami Dolphins is also an NFL member and is the oldest regional club of the Southern wing. In the 70s, it has joined the AFC Eastern Division. We now return to our regularly scheduled draft talk.Miami Dolphins is a professional football team. Hopefully, the 2013 team wearing the uniforms will be ready to attack, because in the end, if Miami finishes 12-4, these uniforms are the greatest thing since sliced bread.īut another 7-9 season or worse, and this uniform makes the current Marlins duds look like the classic New York Yankees uniforms. The only fault I could find was with the sun rays those should've remained the same as in the former logo. No cartoon-like smile, no helmet, just a dolphin in its natural habitat. This dolphin not only looks like it's bound to attack, but has a grace, style and dignity of its own. The dolphin in the logo is literally choking.Ĭonsidering this team's history after 1985, that might not be the best thing to have on a logo. The helmet is located directly over the blowhole. The second one is even more egregious, and often overlooked. ![]() While I'm not against dolphins that are born and raised in captivity (assuming they're treated humanely), you don't want that to be the image of your football team. ![]() This could connotate the dolphin being in captivity, as a servant used for our entertainment purposes only (it was very hard to not go for the easy porpoise pun there). One is the fact that the dolphin looks like it's jumping into a flaming hoop and not the sun. If you really think about it, the old logo, while classic, fun and cartoon-like, had two major flaws. Now after seeing that video, doesn't that logo make a lot of sense? That is until you actually see footage of dolphins swimming in the wild, and in the case of this video, how they fight. Then there's the logo itself, which to some might look like a beached dolphin or whale. (On a selfish note, I'd also like to see an orange jersey: of the post-1997 Dolphins uniforms, those were the only ones I could stomach). Of course I'd have to see the new uniforms before coming to any judgement however, as long as it's the light shade of aqua seen in the t-shirt, I will be very happy. Those uniforms stood out, and if I must add, no uniforms looked better on television than the home aquas that the Dolphins usually only wore for Monday Night Football home games in December (which was always a big event). The aqua and orange remind me of Marino, Shula and the good old days. Wayne Huizinga owned both the Marlins and the Dolphins and former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson was coaching the Fins. No Marlins-inspired teal and Dallas Cowboys-inspired navy blue that was put in back in 1997, coincidentally the same year that H.
